Functional Dry Needling
Manual therapy technique performed by a certified PT to bring pain relief and improve function
Service Description
Everyone's question: What is the difference between acupuncture and dry needling? Well: Functional dry needling is performed within the framework of western musculoskeletal diagnoses, not within the theoretical framework of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and not for the purpose of altering the flow of Qi or energy along traditional Chinese meridians. In other words: I am not addressing energy flow throughout the body, rather we will address a injury or impairment in that localized area and that area only. Dry needling is a minimally invasive treatment used to help patients with neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments including: joint pain (all of them), arthritis, muscle tension, tendinitis and tendinosis', lower back pain migraines, cervicogenic headaches, and tempromandibular dysfunction (AKA TMJ) among others.
